The personal details of Solana co-founder Raj Gokal were exposed in multiple Instagram posts published on the account of U.S. hip-hop group Migos, which appeared to have been compromised in a hacking incident.
On May 27, hackers reportedly breached the Instagram account of the American rap trio Migos, obtained Raj Gokal’s personal information, and used it to publicly expose him and his wife. They posted images of the Solana Labs President holding his unredacted driver’s license and passport but have since removed them.
An additional post displayed a woman, alleged by the hackers to be Gokal’s wife, shown holding her driver’s license.
The poster published seven images to the Migos Instagram account, which has 13 million followers. One post included Raj Gokal’s personal contact details, such as his phone number. The poster then encouraged viewers to “spam” the Solana co-founder, effectively doxxing him.
A caption accompanying the post that displayed Gokal holding his driver’s license appeared to suggest that an attempted blackmail had taken place prior to the public release of his personal details on social media. By tagging Gokal’s Instagram account, the hacker wrote, “you should’ve paid the 40 BTC.” Based on current market value, 40 Bitcoin would amount to approximately $4.3 million.
Solana Co-Founder Raj Gokal Targeted by Hackers
Only a week earlier, Gokal warned his followers on his X account that attackers were attempting to compromise his email and multiple social media profiles. He advised his audience to remain cautious and to avoid placing trust in any suspicious content appearing on his accounts.
Gokal stated in his post that attackers had attempted over the past week to access his email, social media, Google, Apple, and other accounts. He cautioned that if any suspicious activity—such as a token launch or solicitation of funds—were to appear, it would indicate the attackers had successfully breached his accounts.
As of the time of reporting, neither Raj Gokal’s X account nor Solana’s official account had responded publicly to the recent incident involving the Migos Instagram page. However, Migos’ official Instagram account had taken down the posts in question by 5:12 AM UTC.
Over the past few months, hackers have compromised several accounts connected to the crypto industry. They have used these breached accounts to spread false information and promote fraudulent cryptocurrencies within the web3 ecosystem. Among the more recent X account breaches are those of meme coin launchpad Pump.fun and crypto news outlet Watcher Guru, among others.
