A number of tech giants and online media platforms are currently banning cryptocurrency advertisements with increased reports and frauds and online phishing. Joining the latest list of tech giants like Facebook, Google and Twitter who recently introduced some policy changes banning crypto ads is the popular mass-email service MailChimp.

The company recently updated its policy by temporarily suspending all newsletters that promote digital currencies and ICOs. The company informed a customer via email that it will stop allowing its services to support any digital currency campaigns, explaining that such campaigns are ‘too frequently associated with scams, fraud, phishing, and potentially misleading business practices.’

The company will implement the policy change starting April 30th. The company updated its ‘acceptable use’ policy on Thursday where it has stated that: “We cannot allow businesses involved in any aspect of the sale, transaction, exchange, storage, marketing or production of cryptocurrencies, virtual currencies, and any digital assets related to an Initial Coin Offering, to use MailChimp to facilitate or support any of those activities.

Moreover, in meal to the customer, the company has also mentioned that reason for its decision saying: “We made this decision to update our Acceptable Use Policy in order to protect the millions of businesses that use MailChimp for their marketing.

It further added that “we recognize blockchain technology is in its infancy and has tremendous potential.”
