Tommy Robinson has been in the news always for his controversial statements and stands. Around two months ago Tommy Robinsons’ violated a contempt of court and had to undergo the brief imprisonment at a local jail. At the time of peril, Tommy Robinson received 3.44 BTC (Cryptocurrency Bitcoin) worth $26K to cover up the legal proceedings cost.
As Tommy Robinson was released this week, Daily star revealed it in a post that a high profile campaign was running to free Tommy Robinson and the campaign supporters across the globe raised 3.44 BTC. The campaign supporters were primarily celebrities and politicians.
Tommy Robinson has to take the imprisonment for violating the terms of documenting a story that revolved around the involvement of Muslims in sex crimes in England. This week court found Tommy Robinson was not at fault and under the highly influential campaign released the English political activist. It was reported in Daily star that on May 25th Tommy Robinson received £5,500 in his Bitcoin address and the campaign rose to send cryptocurrency bitcoin worth £20,000 in his account.
No central bank was involved in raising or transfer of these funds, and this aspect of the campaign remained utterly confidential. This has been identified as a particular case of Cryptocurrency’s use-case that kept all the donors anonymous. Without anyone coming forward or losing their beauty sleep for being involved in a high-profile campaign, people came forward and donated. Bitcoin has come across a financially viable alternative for traditional money to use in such cases.
Previously also cryptocurrency bitcoin found its use-case in Wikileaks case to keep it funded when all the banking intermediaries stopped providing their services for its controversial framework. Even Visa, Mastercard and Paypal has withdrawn its services to Wikileaks. Using Bitcoin as a replacement for traditional money in such situations offers a parallel world to operate without being regulated.
