The popular cloud computing software Salesforce has recently confirmed that it is working on a Blockchain product which the company would be likely unveiled by the Dreamforce conference scheduled ahead this year in September, in San Francisco.
While speaking to Business Insider’s Julie Bort at the TrailheaDX Salesforce Developer Conference, Salesforce co-founder Marc Benioff said: “I hope that by [our annual conference] Dreamforce we will have a Blockchain and cryptocurrency solution for Salesforce and for all of our customers.”
Benioff, during the interview, said that the first time he started to think seriously of having a blockchain solution for Salesforce was after he returned attending the World Economic Forum earlier this year in Switzerland.
In Switzerland, he happened to have accidentally met a guy who had been attending the cryptocurrency conference taking place at the same time. Benioff said that after this encounter, “I had been thinking a lot about what is Salesforce’s strategy around blockchain, and what is Salesforce’s strategies around cryptocurrencies and how will we relate to all of these things.”
He said that having given a deeper thought to it, he came to the realization: “You know if you do this, this and this, you could put blockchain and cryptocurrencies into Salesforce.”
Benioff said that after this, he has come across a lot of ideas relating to blockchain-based solutions and how they can be integrated with the Salesforce platform, however, he emphasized that currently, he would be focusing on those which can make a more significant impact to its customers. Benioff did not provide much specifics of the blockchain product at this moment but we hope to see it by September, this year.
Salesforce is one of the most widely used cloud computing platforms especially for its Customer Relationship Management (CRM) services across different industries of healthcare, retail, finance, manufacturing and media.
